I am proud to serve as the principal of Nicholson Elementary School! I believe in the importance of working collaboratively with staff, families, and the community to create a culture of high expectations for all.  Students need to be challenged, inspired, encouraged, learn from opportunities, and be a part of a community that fosters a life-long love for learning.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Elementary Leadership, both from Aurora University. My educational career began in the West Aurora School District in 1997, and over the years I have worked as a special education paraprofessional, a first, third, and fifth grade teacher, and a student services specialist. In addition to working at Nicholson Elementary School, I have also worked at Goodwin, McCleery,  Fearn, and Smith Elementary Schools.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading, and teaching spin class. I also enjoy spending time with my two children, Dylan and Grace, who have both attended the West Aurora Schools.
It is my pleasure to serve the Nicholson community, and I look forward to meeting you!

Hello Eagles!

My name is Sarah Malcolm and I am honored to serve as your Assistant Principal. I was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Chicago to begin my teaching career. I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade for a little over 10 years before becoming an Instructional Coach, Math Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator, and now an Assistant Principal.

Educationally, I received a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University. Additionally, I attended Northeastern Illinois University where I received a Master's in Educational Leadership.

In my spare time you might find me at my childrens’ sporting events or doing a home improvement project. I enjoy woodworking, learning & engaging in new experiences, reading, and spending time with my family. I currently reside in Glen Ellyn with my husband, Mike, and our 2 children, Matthew and Amelia.

I am extremely proud to be part of Nicholson’s amazing school community and I look forward to serving and learning alongside you this school year!
