Mrs. jen bernal
I am proud to serve as the principal of Nicholson Elementary School! I believe in the importance of working collaboratively with staff, families, and the community to create a culture of high expectations for all. Students need to be challenged, inspired, encouraged, learn from opportunities, and be a part of a community that fosters a life-long love for learning.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Elementary Leadership, both from Aurora University. My educational career began in the West Aurora School District in 1997, and over the years I have worked as a special education paraprofessional, a first, third, and fifth grade teacher, and a student services specialist. In addition to working at Nicholson Elementary School, I have also worked at Goodwin, McCleery, Fearn, and Smith Elementary Schools.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading, and teaching spin class. I also enjoy spending time with my two children, Dylan and Grace, who have both attended the West Aurora Schools.
It is my pleasure to serve the Nicholson community, and I look forward to meeting you!
