Ms. Jill Roderick
I am honored to serve as the principal of Nicholson Elementary School, home of the Eagles. I have a deep commitment to fostering a collaborative and inspiring educational environment where students are challenged and encouraged to develop a lifelong love for learning.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Illinois State University, a Master of Arts in reading instruction from Aurora University, and a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Concordia University. My educational career spans over two decades, beginning with 14 years in Kaneland Community Unit School District 302, where I taught kindergarten through second grade and served as an instructional coach. Since 2018, I have been the third grade curriculum coordinator for West Aurora School District 129, focusing on instructional coaching and curriculum development.
I could not be prouder or more energized to work with West Aurora's students and staff at Nicholson Elementary School. I am eager to continue to grow alongside the Nicholson community.

Ms. Catherine orin
I am truly honored to serve as the new assistant principal at Nicholson Elementary School. Most recently, I worked as the MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) coordinator in Kaneland School District 302. In that role, I supported students by analyzing academic and behavioral data, facilitating problem-solving meetings, and coordinating interventions to meet the unique needs of every learner.
Before moving into leadership, I spent nine wonderful years as an elementary teacher in Plainfield District 202, where I was humbled to be named Educator of the Year. I also had the opportunity to serve on the district’s Rising Star Principal Committee, contributing to school improvement planning and gaining valuable leadership experience.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana Wesleyan University and my master’s degree in education administration from Northern Illinois University.
I am so grateful to the Board of Education, Principal Jill Roderick, and the entire West Aurora community for entrusting me with this opportunity. I look forward to growing alongside our students, building strong partnerships with families, and supporting our dedicated teachers and staff in fostering an inclusive, thriving learning environment at Nicholson.
